For a limited time, NYC Housing Preservation & Development is opening the wait list for Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers. Section 8 vouchers provide a subsidy to help low-income renters afford decent housing, and from May 17th until May 28th Bronxites can apply for a chance to receive one of these vouchers.
At the conclusion of this period, HCR will randomly select 15,000 applicants to be added to the Section 8 voucher waiting list. Those added to the list will be offered a voucher as one becomes available.
Applicants must be 18+ and reside in an income-eligible household. Applicants who currently reside outside of New York City must reside within New York City for the first 12 months after receiving a voucher.
