We all know and acknowledge that there is a serious shortage of affordable apartments in New York City, to the extent that one has to enter into a lottery system. Here is an opportunity to enter into the lottery for a brand new building in the Bronx.
The building is located at 972 Washington Avenue, and it features air conditioners in every unit, a community room, laundry room, and children’s playground. They would even have classes to educate residents as well as community events.
The building is being constructed through the Supportive Housing Loan Program of the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) and New York State Division of Community Renewal.
Supportive Housing is permanent affordable housing with on-site support services to serve the needs of the most vulnerable New Yorkers, including the formerly homeless and disabled. 41 Units in Supportive Housing are set aside for low income or formerly homeless individuals or families with special needs, who are referred by city agencies.
The remaining units in the building are made available to the public through the lottery. The Units listed in this notice are only those made available to the general public.
No deposits or application fees are required. You may visit www.pgcmh.org for more information.
Here is the breakdown of the unit allocations:
5% Mobility
2% Vision/Hearing
5% New York City Employee
50% Community Board Resident
