The wait is over for millions of foreign nationals around the world who last year entered the 2023 visa lottery to legally immigrate to the United States with permanent resident status.
Entrants to the Diversity Visa Lottery program can already find out if they were randomly selected for a green card, according to the U.S. State Department’s office of Consular affairs. The website went live on Saturday May 7 at noon for status searches.
Anyone who entered the lottery must enter their unique identification code that was issued at the time of registration and then click on the blue button to find out if they were selected for one of the 55,000 visas available for 2023.
The Entrant Status Check is the only means by which the Department of State notifies entrants if they were selected. “The Department of State will not mail notification letters or notify entrants by email ,” according to the State Department website, and “the U.S. embassies or consulates will not notify or provide list of those selected”.
The results will be available until September 30, 2023.
